The Croatian Science Foundation presents the Annual Report on its activities in 2020. The Report presents the results of calls launched in 2020, results of projects that are in their implementation stage and the work of funded doctoral students, international collaborations that we established, new thematic programme – IP-CORONA and new bilateral programmes, etc. We particularly highlight the interview with Professor Stipan Jonjić on the topic of changes that 2020 brought to science.
In 2020, the Foundation funded 869 projects and salaries of 873 young researchers in the amount of HRK 185.9 million. We evaluated 540 project proposals submitted to three calls for proposals launched in 2019. Of this number, 167 projects were approved for funding. The “Young Researchers’ Career Development Project” saw a new generation of doctoral students recruited in 2020, whereas 66 new young scientists from previous generations obtained their doctoral degree.
