Announcing Career Path Seminar #12

The Croatian Science Foundation and the Association of Croatian-American Professionals (ACAP) are resuming the Career Path Seminar series for young scientists, which features excellent Croatian scientists in Croatia and abroad, who, by presenting their career stories, want to inspire young researchers in Croatia and help them find their own path that suits them best.

We would hereby like to announce the twelfth Career Path Seminar, which will be held on Wednesday, 9 March at 17.00 CET via Zoom. The panelists will try to answer questions such as what it takes to find financial support for your start-up idea and what it takes to get a job in the investment sector.

Language of the seminar will be Croatian.

Panellists:

  • Mislav Tolušić, MBA. Mislav holds a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Zagreb, where he was awarded the Dean’s Award for academic achievement; MBA, Vanderbilt University, USA. His areas of expertise include unmanned aerial systems, aerospace & defense, cybersecurity, analytics, and training. Currently: Chief Investment Officer for Crumpton Ventures.
  • Marko Curavić, MBA. Business administration degree from the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany; MBA Stanford University Business School, USA. Currently: Head of the Unit “Space Research” in the Health and Digital Executive Agency of the European Commission. The Unit administers the space research part of the Horizon 2020 Programme supporting European research to develop innovative technologies for scientific, public or commercial purposes and strengthening the competitiveness of the European space sector. Between May 2009 and May 2015, Marko was the Head of the Unit “Entrepreneurship and Social Economy” in the Directorate-General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission (DG-GROW). As such, he was engaged in the establishment of the European exchange program Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, the promotion of entrepreneurial education, the support of women entrepreneurs and the fostering of a second chance for honest bankrupt entrepreneurs. Before joining the European Commission, Marko worked, inter alia, as investment officer in the ICT sector for the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Istanbul, as assistant director of strategy for T-HT (Deutsche Telekom Group) in Zagreb and with McKinsey & Company in Munich. His main areas of professional interest are entrepreneurship, venture financing, tech and business innovation, change management and human resource development
  • Iva Vukina, M.A. Undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, M.A. from Cornell University. Current position: managing director at Goldman Sachs in New York and Board Member of the Grace Institute of New York, whose organization aims to provide free training for women to enter the job market.
